Domaine Saint Amant - High-altitude wines at the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail

Perched between 400 and 600 metres above sea level, above the village of Suzette, Domaine Saint Amant cultivates a rare singularity in the southern Rhône Valley. Here, at the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the vine clings to the rock, breathes the altitude and forges wines of striking elegance.

Across approximately 13 to 14 hectares spread across some twenty steep, small parcels, Camille and Éloïse Nosworthy craft wines that are thoroughbred, precise and carried by freshness, far from the heaviness of the southern sun. A family estate founded in 1995, a production deliberately limited to 50,000 bottles, and a terroir identity among the most distinctive in the Beaumes-de-Venise appellation.

A family estate, a story of women and passion

Founded in 1995 by Jacques Wallut, Domaine Saint Amant is today driven by a committed mother-daughter duo: Camille and Éloïse Nosworthy. Settled in Suzette for over forty years, the family has developed an intimate relationship with this spectacular site, working on a human scale and with constant exigence.

Production, deliberately limited to around 50,000 bottles per year, allows perfect traceability, great technical precision and even some bold experiments, always guided by the terroir. A living, curious estate that doesn't seek to impress, but does so naturally.

The estate's guiding principle

"The goal is never to mark the cuvées, but to let the altitude and the rock speak, through pure, digestible and deeply place-driven wines."

An exceptional terroir shaped by the mountain

The estate extends across approximately 13 to 14 hectares, spread across some twenty small, steep parcels facing south and south-east, swept by the mistral. The soils, derived from Triassic marl and limestone, are poor, dry and perfectly draining.

These naturally demanding conditions encourage healthy, concentrated and expressive grapes. Altitude plays a decisive role: cool nights, strong thermal amplitude and slow ripening give rise to thoroughbred wines, precise and always carried by freshness, far from the heaviness of the southern Rhône.

Altitude 400-600 m - Cool nights, strong thermal amplitude, slow ripening
Triassic marl and limestone soils - Poor, dry, draining: natural concentration of the grapes
South / south-east exposure - Optimal sunshine, mistral as natural regulator
Beaumes-de-Venise rouge - Côtes du Rhône Cru since 2005, mandatory hand-harvesting

The high altitude of the parcels, the draining limestone soils and the strong thermal amplitude of the Dentelles de Montmirail slow grape ripening and preserve natural acidity. This unique combination gives the wines of Domaine Saint Amant a remarkable freshness, great aromatic precision and an elegance rare in the Beaumes-de-Venise appellation.

Artisanal and exacting winemaking

At Domaine Saint Amant, every detail counts. The philosophy is simple and uncompromising: never force the wine, never stamp the cuvées. Let the altitude, the rock and the vintage speak for themselves.

Exclusively hand-harvested

On steep, sharply sloping parcels, mechanical harvesting is simply not an option. Every bunch is picked by hand, sorted at the vine, and handled with the utmost care to preserve the integrity of the fruit.

Parcel-by-parcel vinification

Each parcel is vinified separately to reveal its individual character. This micro-parcel approach is what allows the estate to craft cuvées of great aromatic precision, each telling its own part of the story.

Ageing in stainless steel, foudres or French oak barrels

Depending on the cuvée and vintage, ageing takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, in foudres, or in French oak barrels, always in service of fruit expression, never to mask the terroir.

Underground, air-conditioned cellar

Built in 1995, the cellar is underground and air-conditioned, designed to provide ideal storage conditions throughout the ageing process. Artisanal infrastructure thought through to the last detail.

A passionate mother-daughter duo. Camille and Éloïse Nosworthy embody a human, precise and committed viticulture. Settled in Suzette for over forty years, they know every parcel, every rock, every mistral.

A remarkably diverse range. Ageing reds, gastronomic Viognier, confidential Roussanne, pressed rosé, Ripasso-inspired: few estates of this size offer such a breadth of styles, all from the same high-altitude terroir.
