Domaine Nairaud-Suberville: the soul of modern Châteaumeillant
Domaine Nairaud-Suberville
The largest estate of the Châteaumeillant appellation (22 hectares), in the south of the Cher, founded in 2011 by Daniel Nairaud (ex-INAO) and Sidonie Suberville. In organic conversion, a parcel-by-parcel vinification of Gamay and Pinot Noir: precise, expressive, deeply Berry reds and gris.
An exceptional terroir between the Paris Basin and the Massif Central. The vines of Domaine Nairaud-Suberville, in Chateaumeillant in the south of the Cher, flourish on a singular terroir, at the crossroads of the sandy-loam Paris Basin and the metamorphic Massif Central. With its 22 hectares, the estate is the largest of the Chateaumeillant appellation, a rare and demanding wine land, once celebrated by George Sand for its bocage landscapes.
A parcel-by-parcel vinification, a terroir read plot by plot
Each parcel of the estate, carefully isolated and vinified separately, reveals a unique geological identity. Thus, each cuvee of Domaine Nairaud-Suberville bears the name of the parcel its grapes come from: a tribute to the diversity of these living soils, both tender and powerful, capable of giving birth to red and gris wines of exceptional aromatic purity.

A human and scientific adventure
The estate's history begins in 2011, when Daniel Nairaud and Sidonie Suberville decide to create their estate in Chateaumeillant. A former agricultural engineer and director of the INAO, Daniel wanted to move from theory to practice, reconnecting with his Creuse roots just 25 kilometres from the vineyard. Alongside him, Sidonie, a doctor of science and Parisian by origin, sees the chance to carry out concrete experiments, to understand the soil, the vine and their natural symbiosis. Together, they build a human-scale family estate, supported by a team they consider a second family.
A sustainable viticulture turned towards the future
Aware of the limits of conventional farming, Daniel and Sidonie have committed the estate to a deep ecological transition. For several years, no herbicide or chemical fertiliser has been used; plant-protection treatments are replaced by biocontrol methods, stimulating the vine's natural defences rather than seeking to eradicate its enemies. Each block of the estate is progressively converted to organic farming, begun in 2018, with the aim of minimising the ecological footprint while strengthening the vitality of the soils.
The estate's emblematic cuvees

The spirit of Châteaumeillant today
The 22 hectares of vines are planted mainly with Gamay and Pinot Noir, two grapes that find here a rare expression thanks to the geological diversity of Chateaumeillant. Each wine is a reading of the terroir, at the crossroads of the finesse of the fruit and the minerality of the bedrock. The estate produces AOC Chateaumeillant reds and gris, as well as IGP Val de Loire reds and whites, offering a broad palette of flavours.
When science meets the terroir
Between scientific rigour and respect for the living world, Domaine Nairaud-Suberville embodies the revival of the Chateaumeillant vineyard.
