Domaine Montaude: Six Generations of Passion in the Heart of Minervois

A Family Heritage Rooted in the Land. At the foot of the Roquecourbe-Minervois hills, where the winds of the Aude still glide over ancient stones, Domaine Montaude has carried on a deeply rooted winemaking tradition since 1860.

Patricia and Philippe Escoï represent the sixth generation cultivating this family estate, patiently built around the former lands of the Château de Roquecourbe.

Over the decades, each generation has added its own stone to this living legacy, shaping a modern estate that respects its past and is fully committed to the future.

A Rich, Diverse Vineyard Shaped by an Exceptional Terroir

The estate spans more than 50 hectares, a mosaic of clay-limestone hillsides, gravel terraces, and former garrigue plots.

This geological diversity offers an ideal playground for the emblematic Minervois grape varieties:

  • Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault: the soul of Languedoc red wines.
  • Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Marselan: the estate’s more modern signature.
  • Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc: expressive IGP Pays d’Oc whites marked by exotic fruit and citrus aromas.

The south-facing hillsides overlook the Aude valley and benefit from abundant sunlight, perfect for producing ripe, concentrated grapes.

Each cuvée reflects the Languedoc character: roundness, freshness, and a beautiful mineral tension.

A Strong Commitment: Organic Farming and High Environmental Value

Driven by the desire to preserve the land for future generations, the Escoï family began converting the estate to organic farming in 2019, earning AB certification with the 2022 vintage.

Domaine Montaude also follows an HVE approach, reinforcing a respectful and sustainable viticulture.

Here:

  • The soils are worked mechanically,
  • No chemical herbicides are used,
  • Treatments are limited and adjusted according to vineyard observation,
  • Biodiversity is protected, encouraged, and enhanced.

The result: purer, cleaner, more vibrant wines… and vines in perfect health.

A Place Filled with History and Emotion

The old stone cellars, carefully restored, recall the estate’s longstanding winemaking heritage.

The tasting room, nestled between these historic walls, welcomes visitors with warmth as Patricia and Philippe enthusiastically share stories, savoir-faire, and winemakers’ secrets.

“Our strength is sharing our daily life as winemakers with each of our customers,” says Patricia.

And that sincerity shines through in every bottle.
