Domaine Lespina: a story of friendship and passion on the Signargues plateau

Domaine Lespina is the newest estate in the Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues appellation, yet it already stands out as a distinctive voice in the Southern Rhône. Born from a long-standing friendship and a shared passion for wine, the project is built around a single, contiguous 20-hectare organic vineyard located on the Signargues plateau in Domazan, between Avignon and Nîmes.

Everything here is designed to express the terroir with finesse: rolled pebble soils, organic farming committed since 2011, and a meticulous parcel-by-parcel approach. The ambition is clear: to craft elegant Southern Rhône wines where generosity never overshadows freshness.

Signargues: an exceptional terroir at the heart of Domaine Lespina’s identity

The Signargues plateau is renowned for its rolled pebbles, which store heat during the day and release it slowly at night. This natural feature ensures even ripening of the grapes while preserving a vibrant natural tension, thanks to cooler, deeper soil layers.

On this terroir, Domaine Lespina produces organic red and white wines under the Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues appellations, constantly seeking balance between complexity, elegance, freshness, and immediate drinking pleasure.

Two Matthieus, one shared vision of wine

The estate is led by two friends named Matthieu, brought together by rugby, music, and a common vision of wine.

Matthieu Faurie-Grépon, a professional winemaker, built his experience as a cellar master in the Luberon before spending more than 12 years in Châteauneuf-du-Pape at Domaine Mas Saint Louis. Vineyard manager, production director, and sales manager, he has a complete understanding of wine, from vine to glass. His philosophy is simple: “Great wines are made through attention to small details.”

Matthieu Bècle, an agronomist by training and deeply passionate about living ecosystems, chose to return to his family roots to create a committed wine estate in the Southern Rhône. His motto perfectly captures the spirit of the project: “Choose a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Demanding and respectful organic viticulture

The entire vineyard has been farmed organically since 2011. Domaine Lespina practices physiological pruning, also known as gentle pruning, to respect sap flow and enhance vine longevity.

Viticultural practices are adapted to each parcel, with constant attention paid to grape quality, the foundation of every great wine. The estate is also committed to biodiversity, preserving woodland areas, hedgerows, and riparian zones to maintain a living, balanced ecosystem.

A blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc. Rebelle is fresh, vibrant, and easy-drinking, with aromas of white fruit and lemon. A wine born from an atypical vintage, boldly reflected in its name.
