Domaine La Clausade, organic wines going against the current in Languedoc
Located in Mauguio, near Montpellier, Domaine La Clausade embodies a new generation of committed winemakers. There is no conventional viticulture here and no ready-made formulas. The estate has made a radical choice: to produce organic wines primarily from disease-resistant grape varieties, placing biodiversity and respect for living ecosystems at the heart of every decision.
Across 16 hectares, more than 80% of the vineyards are planted with innovative grape varieties naturally resistant to vine diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew. The result is clear: a no-treatment viticulture model, firmly focused on the future.
Disease-resistant grape varieties for uncompromising viticulture
Floréal, Artaban, Muscaris… These so-called PIWI grape varieties allow Domaine La Clausade to move away from traditional chemical treatments. Here, there is no copper and no sulfur—only sunlight, water, soil, and time.
The vineyards are managed using organic and biodynamic farming methods, with DEMETER certification, ensuring a holistic approach to life from the soil to the grape. The vine is allowed to express itself freely, revealing new, pure, and distinctive aromas.
The goal is clear: to offer organic wines that are different, sincere, and far removed from standardized profiles.
An ecological vision extending all the way to the bottle
At Domaine La Clausade, environmental commitment does not stop in the vineyard.
- No capsule, a deliberate choice to eliminate an unnecessary and purely aesthetic waste.
- Recycled and recyclable packaging, including recycled paper labels, responsible cartons, and lightweight bottles.
Every detail is designed to reduce the ecological footprint and offer wines that are cleaner, more coherent, and more responsible.
A human and deeply committed story
Domaine La Clausade was born from the meeting of two complementary personalities.
Olivier Sebe, a former sailor turned winemaker, is a visionary deeply attached to soil protection. His refusal to use copper—long banned in the maritime world—sparked a radical reflection on viticulture.
Guilhem Jeanjean, trained in marketing between France and Argentina, passionate about wine and experimentation, brings energy, creativity, and a fresh perspective to the project.
Together, they made the bold choice to break away from traditional grape varieties and build an estate focused on ecological and innovative winemaking.
A young estate already recognized for its commitment
In 2022, the estate obtained organic certification. In 2023, it began its conversion to biodynamic farming. That same year, the cuvée L’Irrésistible Blanc was awarded a gold medal at the Millésime BIO trade fair.
A strong recognition for a young estate that is already gaining attention in the Languedoc wine scene.
