Domaine Humbrecht 1619: four centuries of winemaking passion in Alsace
Some estates promise the future.
Others embody living memory.
Domaine Humbrecht clearly belongs to the latter.
Located in Gueberschwihr, about ten kilometers southwest of Colmar, the Humbrecht family has been growing vines continuously since 1619. A rare longevity, built on transmission, discipline and an intimate knowledge of Alsatian terroirs.
Today, following Marthe and Georges, Sylvie and Claude Humbrecht carry this legacy forward with a clear vision: respect the past while preparing for the future.
A mosaic of terroirs serving Alsatian grape varieties
The estate covers 8 hectares spread across several emblematic Alsace hillside villages: Gueberschwihr, Eguisheim, Pfaffenheim and Rouffach.
Each parcel has its own geological and climatic identity. Here, terroir never disappears behind the grape variety. On the contrary, it shapes it.
Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Sylvaner find in these soils their natural balance between aromatic expression, freshness and structure.
This meticulous parcel-by-parcel work produces wines that are precise, readable and deeply rooted in their place of origin.
Choosing life: organic and biodynamic farming as a natural step
In the early 2010s, Sylvie and Claude Humbrecht committed to an ambitious environmental approach.
After three years of conversion, the estate was certified organic in 2013, before fully embracing biodynamic principles.
Interventions are kept to a minimum, all preparations are of natural origin, and the goal is constant: preserve biodiversity, stimulate soil life and strengthen the vine’s natural balance.
Here, respect for life is not a slogan. It is a method.
Sincere, pure and expressive Alsace wines
The wines of Domaine Humbrecht stand out for their aromatic clarity, energy and faithful expression of terroir.
Among the estate’s signature cuvées:
Côté Terre – straight, accessible wines that clearly express grape varieties
Origine – a deeper, more mineral reading of the terroirs
Aurum Terrae – character-driven wines, including outstanding Late Harvest selections
Crémants d’Alsace – fine, elegant and precise sparkling wines
Gewurztraminer Nature – a free, vibrant and authentic interpretation of the grape
Organic and biodynamic wines, designed both for immediate emotion and long-term ageing.
Domaine Humbrecht: the constancy of time and precision of craft
Choosing a bottle from Domaine Humbrecht means stepping into a story that began over 400 years ago—yet one that looks firmly toward tomorrow.
An exacting, human and coherent form of viticulture, where every cuvée reflects the deep connection between vine, soil and those who cultivate it.
A great Alsatian estate—discreet, but essential.
