Domaine Gentile, Patrimonio and Muscat du Cap Corse, the authentic expression of a great island terroir
Located in the heart of the AOP Patrimonio and AOP Muscat du Cap Corse appellations, Domaine Gentile spans around 30 hectares of vineyards on the remarkable hillsides of the Conca d’Oru, a site listed in the national heritage inventory. Facing the sea and backed by the mountains, the vineyard unfolds in a mineral, luminous landscape that is unmistakably Corsican.
Today, Domaine Gentile stands among the leading wine estates of the Island of Beauty, recognized for the purity of its wines, its mastery of indigenous grape varieties, and its pioneering environmental commitment.
A family story of character and transmission
Domaine Gentile is first and foremost a human adventure. Founded in 1970 by Dominique and Viviane Gentile, both from winemaking families, the estate was born from a clear ambition: to produce great Corsican wines without ever betraying their identity.
Visionary and demanding, Dominique Gentile belongs to that generation of builders who look far ahead while deeply respecting the legacy of the past. His wife accompanied him at every stage with rigor and dedication.
In 1994, their son Jean-Paul Gentile, winemaker and oenologist, joined the estate. He now embodies the continuity of the family with a strong personality, combining tradition, technical precision, and absolute respect for the Corsican terroir.
Organic viticulture guided by common sense
Long before it became a widespread standard, Domaine Gentile chose a reasoned organic approach, based on observation and prevention rather than systematic intervention.
Vineyard work is built around five inseparable pillars: biology, environment, prophylaxis, tradition, and respect.
In practical terms, this means:
- mechanical soil work (plowing, under-vine cultivation, manual hoeing),
- no chemical fertilizers,
- a strong focus on prevention rather than treatments,
- voluntarily limited yields,
- exclusively hand-harvested grapes.
The clay-limestone hillsides, with their rugged relief, naturally stress the vines in a beneficial way, encouraging concentration, structure, and aromatic depth.
Modern winemaking in service of tradition
In the cellar, technology is a tool, never an end in itself. Each grape is carefully sorted using an advanced sorting table before undergoing a rigorously controlled vinification process.
The winery combines:
- rotary maceration tanks,
- pneumatic presses,
- temperature-controlled fermentations,
- isothermal tanks allowing natural wine stabilization.
Aging then continues in a climate-controlled underground cellar, ensuring constant temperature and ideal humidity. The wines rest further in bottle before release, allowing them to reach balance, harmony, and full expression.
The emblematic grape varieties of Domaine Gentile
The estate highlights the historic grape varieties of Corsica, the true guardians of its identity.
Niellucciu
The flagship grape of Patrimonio, producing deep, structured red wines with strong aging potential. As a rosé, it reveals a fresh, refined, and elegant profile.
Malvoisie
The traditional white grape of Patrimonio, offering wines of great finesse, combining floral notes, minerality, and delicate persistence.
Muscat Petits Grains
The aromatic signature of Cap Corse, used to craft Muscats and cuvées such as Rappu, rich, complex wines with excellent aging potential.
Wines of character, true reflections of Corsican terroir
Each cuvée from Domaine Gentile tells the story of a parcel, an exposure, and a savoir-faire refined over time. The wines express strength, elegance, and sincerity, whether through:
- structured and spicy Patrimonio reds,
- refined, mineral-driven whites,
- fine, gastronomic rosés,
- or deep, aromatic Muscat du Cap Corse wines.
Cuvées produced from low yields and aged for long periods in foudres or barrels represent the pinnacle of the estate’s expression.
How do Corsican grape varieties such as Niellucciu and Malvoisie express the unique character of the Patrimonio terroir in Domaine Gentile wines ?
