Domaine du Mioula: the only historic estate at the heart of Marcillac
Domaine du Mioula
The only single-block estate of AOC Marcillac, in Salles-la-Source (Aveyron), set in the valley since the 11th century. Mansois (Fer Servadou) reigns supreme here, with rare ungrafted vines: characterful wines, between power and finesse.
Set at the centre of the Marcillac valley since the 11th century, Domaine du Mioula is a unique place, steeped in history and character. This exceptional terroir, discovered by the monks of Conques and cultivated for more than a thousand years, takes its name from the local dialect 'Mieula', meaning 'in the middle': a nod to its position at the heart of the vines.
A rare vineyard, an emblematic grape
Here, it is Mansois (also called Fer Servadou), the emblematic grape of the appellation, that reigns supreme. Adapted to the singular climate of the valley, it has been cultivated for centuries with care and respect for traditions. A demanding, committed viticulture
The estate practises reasoned farming, with manual harvest, sorting in the vines, destemming, green harvest and foot treading, combined with modern equipment (temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, air-conditioned cellars).
