Domaine des Tilleuls - a Muscadet of character, a family, a terroir
Domaine des Tilleuls
A family Muscadet estate since 1905, near Vallet (Sevre-et-Maine). Five generations, 35 ha, HVE level 3. Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie for keeping and IGP Val de Loire cuvees.
Since 1905, making the land speak. A few kilometres from Vallet, in the heart of the Muscadet vineyard, Domaine des Tilleuls cultivates a single obsession: to reveal the terroir, vintage after vintage. On nearly 35 hectares planted on some of the steepest hillsides of the Sevre-et-Maine, five generations have succeeded one another to craft Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie for keeping and a fine collection of IGP Val de Loire cuvees.
Sheltered by four hundred-year-old lime trees that gave the estate its name, this place is at once a story of family, terroir and patience.

A family history since 1905
The adventure begins in the early 1900s with Auguste Godefroy, who inherits a few plots on the Les Corbetieres lieu-dit, in La Regrippiere, and quickly understands the potential of this cool, well-exposed valley, ideal for wines of keeping. In 1950, his daughter marries Gabriel Houssin, a winegrower: together they gather about 5 hectares and build a first stone cellar. Domaine des Tilleuls is born. Later, their son Gaby and his wife Juliette acquire an old farm at the Les Tilleuls lieu-dit, extend the vineyard and develop bottling at the estate. In 1989, their son Daniel takes over the property, restructures the vineyard, introduces new grapes and modernises the facilities. Today, Jerome and Noemie carry on the adventure with the same guiding line: respect for the terroir, sustainable viticulture, a Muscadet for fine dining.
A terroir between schist and clay, shaped for Muscadet of keeping
The estate rests on a silica-clay terroir crossed by a vein of schist, which gives the wines saline minerality, freshness, structure and remarkable ageing potential. The schist allows deep rooting, while the clay retains moisture and protects the vine in summer. The result: Muscadet sur lie that are true gastronomic wines.
Sustainable viticulture, HVE level 3 certification
The estate practises a reasoned viticulture: adapting treatments to the climate, close observation of the growth cycle, reduced inputs and monitoring of the vineyard by an approved body. Since 2018, it has been certified HVE level 3. In the vineyard, simple Guyot pruning controls yields; in the cellar, hand harvesting on old vines, slow pneumatic pressing, natural settling, low-temperature fermentation and ageing on fine lees for 6 to 18 months, which brings roundness, volume and notes of brioche and wet stone.
Noble grapes to express the Val de Loire
Four main grapes make up the range: Melon de Bourgogne, fine, mineral and tense, at the heart of the Muscadet; Chardonnay, ample, aromatic and elegant; Sauvignon Blanc, lively, expressive and mineral; and Cabernet Franc, a fresh, structured and generous red.
The exceptional Muscadets: Essentielle, Les Vénérables, Vallet
Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie « Essentielle »
AOC Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie - white
The signature cuvee aged on fine lees: freshness, minerality, citrus, white flowers and an iodine touch.
Muscadet « Les Venerables » - Old Vines
AOC Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie - white
From old vines over 40 years old, a complex, ample and long Muscadet, perfect for fine dining.
Muscadet « Vallet » - an emerging cru
