History and renaissance of the estate

When Patricia Alexandre, former Editorial Director of the Gault & Millau guide, and Georges Antoun discovered the estate in 2012, the picture was stark: crumbling buildings, abandoned vines, no production facility whatsoever. Everything had to be rebuilt from scratch, and they chose to do so without compromise.

Complete renovation of the buildings, creation of a modern winery, total restructuring of the vineyard, restoration of the ancient chapel… Domaine des Peyre was reborn stone by stone, vine row by vine row. Within a decade, it established itself as one of the most compelling estates in Provençal winemaking, driven by its founders' exacting standards and the energy of a young, committed team.

The terroir: between Ventoux and Luberon

Domaine des Peyre occupies a rare geographical position: at the heart of the Luberon Regional Natural Park, in Provence, with the Ventoux massif to the south and the Luberon hills to the north. This dual exposure creates a microclimate of exceptional complexity. To the south, the heat and light of the Ventoux bring generosity and ripeness. To the north, the cool nights of the Luberon preserve aromatic finesse and wine tension.

The estate covers 26 hectares of productive vines on clay-limestone and silty soils. The traditional grape varieties of the southern Rhône Valley, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre for the reds, Roussanne and Clairette for the whites, find a particularly nuanced expression here, carried by living soils and preserved biodiversity.

Viticulture and environmental commitments

HVE certified (High Environmental Value) and actively converting to organic farming, Domaine des Peyre practises viticulture without compromise. Here, respect for nature is not a marketing claim, it is a daily discipline. Natural ground cover between the vine rows, zero herbicides, organic inputs, restoration of the dry-stone terraces (restanques), tree planting and preservation of wooded areas structure every working season.

The estate goes further in reducing its carbon footprint: lightweight bottles, eco-responsible packaging, negative carbon-footprint corks. A first cuvée made without added sulphites has also been released, a rare step in the AOP Ventoux appellation, reflecting a genuine and continuous environmental ambition.

None of this would be possible without the team. Young, dedicated collaborators passionate about wine and hospitality work throughout the year in the vineyard, the cellar and with visitors. Grape varieties and appellations

The estate's wines are produced under two complementary designations. The main cuvées, reds, whites and rosés are crafted under the AOP Ventoux appellation, a Provençal designation recognised for its elegant, food-friendly wines grown at the foot of Mont Ventoux. Freer assemblages are bottled under the IGP Méditerranée label, allowing greater latitude in grape selection.

The grape palette covers the great southern Rhône classics. For the reds and rosés: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, which find in the dual Ventoux-Luberon influence a particularly nuanced expression, sunny yet never heavy. For the whites: Roussanne and Clairette, quintessential Provençal varieties producing floral, vibrant wines with a distinctive personality.

Guided by the late Philippe Cambie, international consultant and one of the leading authorities on the great wines of the Rhône Valley, Patricia Alexandre has built a coherent and generous range. Domaine des Peyre wines, AOP Ventoux and IGP Méditerranée, are wines for sharing: honest, firmly rooted in their terroir, designed to be enjoyed with pleasure, without pretence but with precision.

The Grenache-Syrah reds offer depth without weight, with silky tannins that invite the table. The Roussanne-Clairette whites surprise with their freshness and aromatic tension, in a region rarely associated with compelling white wines. The rosés are generous and luminous, Provence in a glass. All are made with the same rigorous attention to detail, apparent from the very first sip.
