Domaine des Maravilhas – Exceptional Biodynamic Wines from the Southern Rhône Valley

A 100% Biodynamic Vineyard, Respecting Life

At the Domaine des Maravilhas, every grape tells the story of a preserved land. Here, no chemical fertilizers or herbicides have ever been used. The winemakers’ work focuses on maintaining soil balance and vitality, allowing the vines to naturally express their full potential.

From the very beginning, the estate has been committed to organic farming and biodynamics, producing living wines that authentically reflect their terroir and the craftsmanship of the winemakers.

A Story of Passion and Renewal

Settled in 2014 in Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres, at the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley, Morgane and Jean-Frédéric Bistagne left their life in Switzerland to follow their dream: making wine. Captivated by this estate with its evocative name — Maravilhas meaning “wonders” in Occitan — they brought freshness, finesse, and high standards to their work.

Today, the team also includes Michel Sinard, Lila Schneider, and Zico, the loyal four-legged guardian of the estate.

Exceptional Terroirs of the Southern Rhône Valley

The estate covers 24 hectares, including 18 hectares of vineyards, spanning across the Gard and Vaucluse departments. This geographical diversity offers a mosaic of prestigious terroirs and appellations, giving the wines their unique personality.

Côtes du Rhône

On soils composed of rolled flint pebbles and red clay, Grenache thrives, producing generous, spicy wines with aromas of wild herbs from the surrounding garrigue.

Laudun – Côtes du Rhône Villages

Recognized as an appellation since 1967, Laudun offers the estate fresh, balanced, and fruity white wines, as well as round and smooth reds. This historic terroir once hosted the Roman Camp of Caesar, overlooking the Rhône River.

Lirac

This Southern Rhône Cru is known for its powerful, structured, and elegant reds, as well as its sunny, mineral-driven whites with subtle saline notes. These wines have excellent aging potential, with freshness balancing their richness.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The most famous appellation in the Rhône Valley. The Domaine des Maravilhas cultivates Grenache and Syrah on three parcels here, producing intense, full-bodied wines with remarkable aging potential.

Signature cuvées include Espirito and Santo, combining aromatic power with exceptional finesse.

A Philosophy Rooted in Biodynamics

Certified Organic since 1992 and Biodyvin since 2004, the Domaine des Maravilhas grows its vines in harmony with natural cycles. Treatments are exclusively plant- and mineral-based, strengthening the vines’ natural defenses and encouraging deep rooting.

Hand harvesting ensures healthy grapes, which are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in concrete vats or oak barrels. This natural quality significantly reduces the need for sulfur and copper.

Commitment to Biodiversity

The estate nurtures a rich and vibrant environment: installing bat and tit nest boxes, preserving hedgerows and wooded areas… Every action contributes to maintaining natural balance, which is fully expressed in the unique character of the wines.
