Domaine des Îles: characterful wines from sustainable farming in the heart of Vendée

Located in Saint-Étienne-du-Bois, Domaine des Îles is a family winegrowing adventure that has been unfolding for nearly forty years. Founded in 1985 by Pierre Penisson with just 0.5 hectares of vines, the estate was built on a clear ambition: to produce sincere wines that respect both their environment and their terroir.

Today, the vineyard covers 170 hectares, reflecting steady and well-managed growth. Pierrick and Landry Penisson, Pierre’s sons, have joined the estate and play an active role in its development. Together, they continue this family story with a shared spirit of transmission, rigour and complementary skills.

Over the years, Domaine des Îles has expanded its viticultural potential while maintaining a responsible and pragmatic approach. Since 2003, the vineyard has been managed using sustainable farming methods, based on careful observation, agronomic common sense and respect for natural balances.

• protect the long-term health of soils and vines,
• ensure consistent and high-quality production.

A range of appellations reflecting a diverse terroir

Thanks to the diversity of its parcels and soils, Domaine des Îles produces wines under several appellations, offering a wide spectrum of styles:

• IGP Vin de Pays,
• Muscadet AOC,
• Muscadet Côtes de Grand-Lieu AOC,
• IGP Val de Loire.

This diversity makes it possible to offer wines that are accessible, fresh and expressive, suited both to everyday enjoyment and to more gastronomic occasions.

A wide range of grape varieties and styles

Domaine des Îles works with both classic and regional grape varieties to meet a variety of tasting preferences:

Chardonnay, Grolleau Gris, Pinot Gris, Gamay, Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir.

Each variety is vinified with precision, respecting its natural expression. All wines are vinified and bottled directly at the estate, ensuring full traceability and complete quality control.
