A family story, three generations, one vision. After a youth shared between Lyon and Julienas, Arnaud Briday joined the family estate in 2009 and settled there permanently in 2014. Wine studies, winegrowing experience and encounters feed his desire to perpetuate the work of his father and grandfather, while adding his own signature: precise ageing, a fine reading of the terroirs and consistent quality.
Old vines: the finest oenological asset
Born in 1956, Domaine des Chers spans 4 hectares in AOP Julienas and 1 hectare in AOP Saint-Amour, complemented by selected parcels in Moulin-a-Vent and Chenas. Facing due south, the old vines (40 to 100 years old) on granites, sands and volcanic rocks deliver measured yields (around 50 hl/ha), a mark of concentration and elegance. About 25,000 bottles a year are sold to private customers, wine merchants, restaurants and for export. The estate is an independent winegrower and practises sustainable viticulture attentive to the living world.

A mostly manual harvest, macerations adapted to the vintages, precise ageing (vat and barrel depending on the cuvees): the aim is clear, to express Gamay with a clean fruity frame, silky tannins and a terroir freshness that marks the great crus of Beaujolais.
