Château de Marmorières: heritage, innovation and respect for the terroir
Château de Marmorières - Cru La Clape near Narbonne, a family estate, organic and HVE, since 1826
Château de Marmorières is a family estate of 120 hectares in the heart of Cru La Clape, near Narbonne, certified Organic Agriculture and HVE, since 1826.
In the heart of the classified La Clape massif, the de Woillemont family has carried on a tradition of winegrowing excellence since 1826. 120 hectares by the Mediterranean, a 1901 foudre cellar and precision winemaking: balanced, lively and luminous wines, certified organic and HVE.
Established since 1826 in the heart of the classified La Clape massif, in the south of France, the de Woillemont family carries on a tradition of winegrowing excellence. Since acquiring Château de Marmorières, each generation has helped develop the estate, replanted after the phylloxera crisis and enriched by the construction, in 1901, of the legendary foudre cellar.
Faithful to this heritage, the family has undertaken a deep modernisation of the infrastructure. The former concrete tanks have been renovated and complemented by 1,400 hectolitres of small-capacity stainless-steel tanks (from 40 to 120 hl), allowing precision winemaking. This subtle combination of tradition and technology ensures optimal control of fermentation and ageing, for wines of remarkable purity and elegance.

Family heritage and modernisation of the estate
In the heart of Cru La Clape, a terroir known for its mineral character and its proximity to the Mediterranean, Château de Marmorières farms 120 hectares of sun-bathed vines. The emblematic grapes of the South, Grenache Noir, Syrah, Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, flourish here on clay-limestone soils caressed by the sea wind.
The restructuring of the vineyard, begun several years ago, also includes the replanting of Carignan, the historic Languedoc grape, which brings the wines intense notes of red fruits, oriental spices and garrigue.
In 2005, the acquisition of the Commanderie de Saint Pierre la Garrigue, a terroir with a unique geology, strengthened the diversity of the estate's expressions. Each plot, vinified separately, reveals the singularity of the soil and the identity of its grape, for wines with a precise, balanced and deeply Mediterranean profile.
An exemplary environmental approach
Château de Marmorières is part of a sustainable dynamic based on the preservation of biodiversity and the natural enhancement of the soils. The estate relies on respectful practices: use of organic composts and cover crops, a ban on synthetic products, harmonious cohabitation with olive trees, almond trees and local wildlife. This philosophy has led the estate to obtain Organic Agriculture certification and the High Environmental Value (HVE) label.
The 2022 vintage, shaped by a temperate summer thanks to the maritime cloud cover, stands out for its minerality, its aromatic finesse and a rare elegance. It perfectly illustrates the estate's signature: balanced, lively and luminous wines.
Awards and international recognition
The qualitative demand of Château de Marmorières is regularly praised by the greatest competitions and critics: gold medals at the Mâcon and Lyon competitions, scores of 90 to 94 points from Decanter, and regular selections in the reference guides of French wine.
These distinctions crown the patient and meticulous work of a family that, for nearly two centuries, has combined ancestral know-how and a contemporary vision of wine.
