Domaine de la Bégude, a thousand-year-old sanctuary on the heights of Bandol

Domaine de la Bégude

A legendary Bandol estate, in La Cadière-d'Azur, over 300 hectares including 30 of vines. Certified organic since 1996, Mourvèdre grape and the world's largest Mourvèdre conservatory. Wines aged in an old chapel. Cadet de la Bégude cuvees (white, rosé, red).

Clinging to the wild ridges of Bandol, facing the Mediterranean, Domaine de la Bégude is much more than a vineyard: it is a true fragment of history, suspended above the hills and battered by the sea winds. Since 2022, the Roulleau family has taken over this mythical estate, guided by a clear ambition: to preserve a thousand-year-old heritage while writing a new page of excellence. Under the inspired direction of Laurent Fortin, the estate's 300 hectares, including 30 hectares of vines, vibrate to the rhythm of a rare, precious and fiercely protected biodiversity.

An assumed organic philosophy, inherited from over 25 years of commitment

Long before organic became a trend, Domaine de la Bégude had already made a bold choice: zero chemistry since 1996. This pioneering approach rests on simple but demanding principles: respect the land, preserve the life of the soils, work the vine as close as possible to nature. This fidelity to a pure and virtuous organic farming makes the estate today one of the most authentic ambassadors of sustainable viticulture in Provence. Few estates can claim such historical depth: at the Bégude, the wines are born at the heart of an old chapel, a place where every stone seems to carry the memory of centuries.

A unique Bandol terroir: the strength of Mourvèdre and Mediterranean elegance

Domaine de la Bégude benefits from the typical Bandol terroir: clay-limestone soils, marine influences, beneficial thermal amplitudes and natural ventilation ideal for the ripeness of Mourvèdre. These exceptional conditions give birth to structured, vibrant, precise wines, deeply representative of the Bandol character. The estate is even home to the world's largest Mourvèdre conservatory, with more than 150 varieties: a veritable open-air museum.
