Domaine de Cassan: a vineyard shaped by the Dentelles de Montmirail

A property forged by history and dedication. Nestled in a sculptural landscape, Domaine de Cassan lies at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, an iconic limestone massif overlooking the valley. Created in the 1970s, it has seen several generations of passionate winegrowers succeed one another, including the Croset family, long-time guardians of this exceptional estate.

Today, the domaine begins a new chapter. The Petitjean family, closely connected to the estate for many years, now leads its future. Their collaboration with the Croset family dates back to 2010, when several key parcels—most notably in Gigondas and Beaumes-de-Venise—were integrated into their other property. Since then, these vineyards have been cultivated organically, producing cuvées acclaimed for their freshness and precision.

A rare terroir at the heart of a protected landscape

The Dentelles de Montmirail offer a spectacular setting and a unique environment for viticulture. The limestone slopes, bathed in abundant sunshine, allow Mediterranean grape varieties to express themselves fully.

The vineyard covers around 18 hectares, spread across:

• – Beaumes-de-Venise terroirs,
• – parcels in Côtes-du-Rhône,
• – and a few vines oriented toward the Ventoux.

The mineral-rich soils, altitude and thermal contrasts give rise to wines that are intense, precise and consistently fresh.

The domaine thrives thanks to a team whose skills complement each other. Under the guidance of Sarah and Jérôme Petitjean, the estate evolves with energy and ambition. They are accompanied by dedicated team members involved in vine growing, winemaking and welcoming visitors.

Wines that express the full richness of the Dentelles de Montmirail

Beaumes-de-Venise – the deepest expression of the domaine

• Félibirge
  A Grenache–Syrah blend combining roundness, structure and spicy notes. A generous, ample wine, ideal with white meats, lamb or dark chocolate desserts.
• Tradition
  A more airy style dominated by Grenache. Red fruit, pepper and sweet spice aromas. Perfect with grilled meats and aged cheeses.
• Saint-Christophe
  Grenache–Syrah. Freshness, length and elegance. Pairs beautifully with slow-cooked dishes, game or sauced meats.

Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise – sweetness and finesse

• Muscat petits grains
  A sweet, delicate, aromatic wine with impressive length. Superb as an aperitif, with Roquefort or a buttery brioche.

Ventoux – freshness from altitude

• Les Esclausels
  Grenache and Cinsault. A fruity, easy-drinking wine, delicious served chilled. Ideal with appetizers, charcuterie or exotic cuisine.
• Blanc de Saint-Christophe
  Viognier, Clairette and Grenache Blanc. A lively, mineral white wine, excellent with seafood or fresh cheeses.

Côtes-du-Rhône – balance and indulgence

• Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc
  One of the domaine’s signature wines. Expressive, aromatic and well-balanced, with freshness and a long finish.
