Damien Robert – Winemaker at Château de l’Epinay (Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine)
A Family Estate with a Clear Vision. Since 1986, Damien Robert has carried on the legacy of Château de l’Epinay alongside his father before taking the helm himself. Faithful to gentle, sustainable viticulture, he cultivates the art of Muscadet in harmony with nature. Located in Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine, at the confluence of the Maine and Sèvre rivers, the estate thrives in a landscape shaped by vines and water.
23 Hectares Devoted to Muscadet
The vineyard spans 23 hectares entirely planted with Melon de Bourgogne, the iconic grape of Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine. The wines are pale gold, fresh, and citrusy, marked by bright acidity and saline minerality. On the palate, precision and freshness define their Loire signature.
Experience and Open-Mindedness
After studying viticulture and oenology, Damien spent seven months in South Australia to broaden his vision of winemaking. Upon returning, he revived the family estate — founded by his father Alain and grandfather André — and launched direct sales in 2004. In 2017, Sabrina joined him, bringing structure, hospitality, and commercial expertise to elevate the winery’s presence while preserving its artisanal spirit.
Gentle Viticulture, Honest Wines
The philosophy is simple: preserve life and express place. In practice:
- Careful vineyard work to protect natural balance,
- Harvest and fermentation designed for fruit purity,
- Lees aging for roundness and depth,
- Precise bottling to maintain natural harmony.
The result: straightforward, elegant, saline Muscadets, perfect for seafood or an aperitif by the sea.
