Domaine Comte de Lauze – Tradition, Excellence, and Respect for Terroir

A Historic Estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Since 1976, Domaine Comte de Lauze has passionately cultivated vines in the prestigious terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Côtes-du-Rhône. Located in the northwest of the appellation, in the Cabrières area, the vineyard sits on clay-limestone soils strewn with rolled pebbles — natural heat reservoirs that promote perfect grape ripeness. The ever-present mistral wind naturally aerates the vines, ensuring healthy, pure harvests.

The Passion of a Woman, Heir to a Family Legacy

Since 2004, Anne, the third generation of winemakers, has led the estate with energy and precision. She personally oversees every stage — from vineyard work to cellar aging — blending tradition with modern viticulture. Her commitment to quality and sustainability earned the estate the HVE certification (Haute Valeur Environnementale), a French recognition for farms protecting biodiversity and managing natural resources responsibly.

Responsible and Demanding Viticulture

Domaine Comte de Lauze embraces a holistic agro-environmental approach, combining deep observation of the terroir with careful balance of natural ecosystems. Manual vineyard work, selective harvesting, and rigorous monitoring of ripeness ensure low yields and the purest expression of each grape variety.

Powerful and Elegant Wines

The estate’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines embody southern strength and Burgundian finesse. Primarily crafted from Grenache and Syrah, they offer structured, complex reds ideal with red meats and aged cheeses. The Côtes-du-Rhône reds and whites, produced in Orange and Sorgues, charm with their balance and fruit-forward profiles.

  • Côtes-du-Rhône Red: generous, with violet hues, rich in black fruit and spicy notes.
  • Côtes-du-Rhône White: a blend of Viognier, Roussanne, and Grenache Blanc, offering freshness and finesse.

The Art of Winemaking and Aging

Each vintage is crafted with precision. After gentle crushing and controlled maceration, alcoholic fermentation releases tannins and aromas. Aging continues in traditional foudres, demi-muids, and barrels for at least 12 months before bottling at the estate. This artisanal expertise produces wines that are powerful, balanced, and long-lived — with rare old vintages still available for discerning enthusiasts.

An Award-Winning Estate

Domaine Comte de Lauze stands out as one of the appellation’s benchmarks, honored by numerous awards:

  • Challenge International du Vin 2025: gold medals for Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022 and Côtes-du-Rhône 2023.
  • Mâcon Wine Competition 2024 and Orange 2024: multiple award-winning cuvées.
  • Grenache du Monde 2024: gold medal for Réserve de la Comtesse 2021.

These honors reflect the estate’s consistency in its pursuit of excellence and authenticity.
