Domaine Clos Romane: the soul of Cairanne, between land, family and passion
Domaine Clos Romane
A family estate at the heart of Cairanne, a Cru des Côtes du Rhône, over four generations. 30 hectares of clay-limestone, vines over 50 years old, organic farming since 2022. Structured, solar reds, ample whites and a fine rosé, between the power of the Rhône and the gentleness of Provence.
A family story at the heart of Provence. In the centre of the charming village of Cairanne, classified among the Crus des Côtes du Rhône, the story of Domaine Clos Romane has been written for four generations. Here, the vine is not just a profession: it is a living heritage, passed from hand to hand, from heart to heart.
A story of family and transmission
In 2011, Nadine and Stéphane founded the estate and signed their first vintage, marking a new page in the family saga. A few years later, their children Romane and Florent joined the adventure, bringing in turn their energy and their contemporary outlook. Nadine and Stéphane, together with Florent and Romane, embody the very spirit of the estate: authenticity, rigour and conviviality, with the simple ambition of producing sincere wines that tell of their land and their history.

A generous and living terroir
The Clos Romane vineyard extends over 30 hectares of clay-limestone soils of rare richness. From the terraces of the Aygues up to the heights overlooking the Rhône plain, the plots offer a natural mosaic where each vine expresses the personality of the Provençal terroir. The vines over 50 years old receive meticulous attention. Committed to an organic farming approach since 2022, the estate cultivates the vine with respect and precision: regular ploughing, organic fertilisers, short pruning and natural treatments.
The art of winemaking: between tradition and precision
At Clos Romane, the harvest is entirely manual, with careful sorting repeated twice: in the vines, then at the cellar on the sorting table. Vinification, faithful to the Rhône tradition, takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Maceration lasts between 20 and 30 days, punctuated by daily pumping-over and rack-and-return for a gentle extraction. The wines are then aged 10 months in tank, then 12 to 18 months in demi-muids (600 L barrels), and bottled without fining or filtration, to preserve all the aromatic richness and authenticity of the wine.
