Domaine Allemand: the revival of the Mollard grape in the Hautes-Alpes
Domaine Allemand - IGP Hautes-Alpes, a family estate of Théüs, guardian of the Mollard grape
Domaine Allemand is a family high-altitude estate of the Hautes-Alpes, guardian of the rare Mollard grape, certified organic and HVE.
At the heart of the Southern Alps, in Théüs, Domaine Allemand defends a high-altitude terroir and a rare grape, Mollard, emblem of the Hautes-Alpes. Three generations since 1954, organic and natural winemaking: sincere, vibrant Alpine wines, to discover direct on Avenue des Vins.
At the heart of the Southern Alps, Domaine Allemand passionately defends a high-altitude terroir and a rare grape, Mollard, emblem of the Hautes-Alpes. Since 1954, three generations have succeeded one another in Théüs, a small perched village immortalised by Jean Giono in The Horseman on the Roof.
Created by Marcelle and Louis, the estate passed to Mireille and Marc, who saved the local grape threatened with extinction. Today, Laetitia and Maxime carry on the family adventure, adding a resolutely ecological and creative vision.

Mollard: a heritage treasure of the Hautes-Alpes
A grape endemic to the mountains, Mollard, which means 'little mountain' in the local dialec, grows nowhere else. Long forgotten, it regained its noble status thanks to the estate's perseverance, in collaboration with the French Vine and Wine Institute (IFV).
Its revival required more than 15 years of experiments, clonal and mass selections, to preserve the grape's genetic diversity. Today, Domaine Allemand holds the mother plot of Mollard, the origin of all the new certified plantings.
On the palate, this singular grape gives intense ruby wines, spicy, peppery and fruity, of remarkable lightness (around 12% alcohol). Its aromas of ripe red fruit and its round texture make it a convivial, expressive and typically Alpine wine.
A mountain terroir, a responsible viticulture
Nestled between 700 and 900 metres of altitude, the vines of Domaine Allemand enjoy a cool, sunny climate, ideal for preserving the natural freshness of the grapes. The family farms its plots according to a simple philosophy: respect nature to reveal the terroir.
HVE-labelled (High Environmental Value) since 2020 and certified organic since 2024, the estate favours sustainable practices:
Soil work with a draught horse. Ploughing respectful of living soils.
Hand harvesting. Picking by hand and parcel selection.
Reduced inputs. A drastic reduction of inputs and sulphites.
Eco-responsible materials. Lightweight Ecova bottles and Green Line corks.
Each cuvee is vinified in an artisanal way, with minimal intervention, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the energy of the terroir.
