A friendship turned into an artisan adventure. Breizh'Cool is first of all a story of friendship and passion. Born in 2016 in Acigne, near Rennes, the distillery is the fruit of three friends - Cedric, Florian and Xavier - united since school and driven by the same curiosity: that of flavours and aromas. From their bond was born a common ambition: to create Breton organic spirits of exceptional quality, produced locally, with a rare artisanal standard.

From copper to oak barrel, the art of distillation

The rums start from an organic cane molasses from Paraguay, fermented over at least 13 days, then distilled in copper stills of 600 and 150 litres: only the heart of the run is kept. They age in oak barrels that held Breton whisky or Sauternes. For gins, pastis and liqueurs, alcohol steam extraction preserves the purity of the aromas.

GWENN & FORBANN Rums (white & amber)

Organic rums, 40 to 45% - organic

The distillery's signature rums: GWENN (45%), fresh and floral in white, notes of vanilla and dried fruits in amber; FORBANN (40%), round and balanced in white, a marriage of oak, spices and ripe fruits in amber. From an organic cane molasses, copper-distilled and aged in oak barrels.

London Gin & red Gin, 40% - organic

HOGENN, a London Gin distilled from Breton plants, of rare aromatic finesse; and ROZENN, an original, bold red gin, infused with red fruits for an explosion of flavours. Two organic gins made by alcohol steam extraction.

Pastis 45% & vodka 40% - organic

MADENN, a powerful, refreshing pastis with accents of anise and aromatic herbs; MELENN, softer and more balanced, on liquorice and fennel; and the ELFENN Vodka (40%), pure and silky. Three Breton classics revisited organically.

How are the Breizh'Cool rums made?

What is alcohol steam extraction?

For gins, pastis and liqueurs, Breizh'Cool favours a rare method: alcohol steam extraction. Inherited from the distillation of essential oils, it allows only the aromatic molecules of the plants to be extracted, without alteration or colouring. The result: spirits of incomparable purity, expressive and balanced.

What is the angels' share at Breizh'Cool?

During ageing in oak barrels, part of the rum naturally evaporates: this is the famous angels' share. Under the effect of the Breton climate and the heat of the stills, it rises to around 6%, proof of a natural evaporation and a sign of quality and complexity for the aged rums.
