Clos Sorian – The bold vision of a winemaker, the sincerity of a Languedoc terroir
Between Montpellier and the Thau lagoon, in the village of Saussan at the gateway to the Collines de la Moure, Clos Sorian represents a new generation of Languedoc estates: human-scale, demanding, creative and deeply rooted in its territory.
Across around ten carefully tended hectares, the vine expresses itself here without artifice, guided by a clear vision: to produce sincere, vibrant and accessible wines, capable of appealing both to curious newcomers and seasoned wine lovers.
A small estate driven by great ambition
Behind Clos Sorian stands Florent Granier, a winemaker both rigorous and inspired. After more than fifteen years of experience at the prestigious Château Labégorce in Margaux, he chose to return to the South to write his own story.
His ambition is simple yet powerful: to reveal the full potential of Languedoc terroirs through characterful wines, while never losing sight of pleasure and sharing.
A diverse terroir between sea and garrigue
The vineyard enjoys a privileged location, shaped by Mediterranean influences and the cooling effect of nearby hills. Parcels are spread across varied soils — clay-limestone, sandy terraces and rounded pebbles — allowing for a wide range of expressions.
The vines, aged between 30 and 40 years, are cultivated with deep respect for both fruit and nature. Voluntarily limited yields ensure high-quality harvests and precise wines that remain faithful to their origin.
Recognised appellations and true creative freedom
Clos Sorian produces wines under several emblematic Languedoc designations:
– AOP Languedoc
– AOP Grès de Montpellier
– IGP Collines de la Moure
– IGP Pays d’Oc
Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, as well as more original cuvées: each wine is conceived as a unique expression of place, vintage and the winemaker’s intent.
Wines crafted for pleasure… and for time
The Clos Sorian range has gradually expanded while remaining highly readable for consumers. It includes:
– everyday wines, fresh and generous, perfect for sharing with friends
– bright, summery cuvées, particularly rosés and whites
– organic and natural wines, vinified without added sulphites
– age-worthy wines, matured for long periods in French oak barrels and further refined for several years in bottle
This approach, still relatively rare in the Languedoc, allows wines to be harmonious upon release while also offering remarkable ageing potential.
A human, modern and committed signature
Clos Sorian embraces a respectful form of viticulture, attentive to natural balances and soil life. Each cuvée tells a story, an emotion, a moment. Nothing is fixed; everything evolves, true to the estate’s philosophy: the best is always yet to come.
The wines charm through their freshness, aromatic precision and sincerity. They speak of the South without excess, with balance and strong personality.
