Château Tourril
An organic family estate in Roubia (11200), in the heart of the Minervois, between Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi. 16 hectares of clay-limestone soils facing south-west, converted to organic from 2017. Mediterranean varieties (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre...) and whites (Roussanne, Rolle), for sunny, authentic wines.
More than thirty years ago, the Franco-German Kandler family decided to settle in the Languedoc, at a time when this wine region did not yet have the recognition it deserves today. Charmed by the wild landscapes of Roubia, between the majestic City of Carcassonne and the peaceful Canal du Midi, they founded Château Tourril. The name pays tribute to the 'Pierre du Tourril', the vestige of a Gallo-Roman tower that has overlooked the garrigue for more than two millennia: respect for the past, rootedness in the terroir and a will to move forward.
A visionary family, an awarded organic vineyard
In 2014, Stephane Kandler took over the property. A former sailor who took part in the America's Cup, he brought new energy and a modern vision. From 2017, he converted the vineyard to organic farming, guided by a strong will: to produce wines that respect the earth and faithfully express the identity of the Minervois. The estate now spans 16 hectares of clay-limestone soils facing south-west, an ideal balance between heat, light and freshness, which allows the local varieties to reveal all their intensity.

The estate favours manual harvesting, respects natural fermentations with indigenous yeasts and, for some cuvees, carries out ageing in oak barrels.
