Château Tasta: a century of history, five generations of winegrowers
Château Tasta
A family estate of Fronsac and Canon Fronsac since 1922, five generations of the Chevalier family. Merlot and Cabernet Franc, on clay-limestone slopes. Part of the vineyard in organic conversion since 2023; 1 hectare of olive trees planted in 2025.
A family saga born in 1922. The history of Chateau Tasta begins more than a hundred years ago, when Pierre and Marie Chevalier discovered this luminous valley between Saint-Aignan and Saint-Michel-de-Fronsac. Charmed by the beauty of the place, they decided to plant their first vines there. Since then, each generation has shaped the estate, expanded, modernised and passed it on with pride, up to Maxence Chevalier, the fifth generation since 2021. A whole family devoted to wine, where one is literally born under a vine.
An estate between Fronsac and Canon Fronsac
Chateau Tasta lies at the heart of the Fronsac and Canon Fronsac appellations, halfway between Libourne and Bordeaux. The clay-limestone slopes, constant sunshine and rolling topography offer ideal conditions to reveal the character of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the estate's emblematic grapes. The view over the small valley descending towards the Dordogne, dotted with groves and lines of vines, gives the place a peaceful atmosphere, almost suspended in time.
An asserted environmental approach
Part of the vineyard has been in conversion to organic agriculture since 2023, a turning point towards an even more living-respectful viticulture. The approach rests on reasoned management of treatments, protection of biodiversity in the vineyard, control of fertilisation and preservation of the water resource. In 2025, the estate planted 1 hectare of olive trees, extending a commitment in place for more than ten years.

A family transmission carried by Patrice and Maxence
Patrice Chevalier took over the estate in 2001, after working alongside his parents. He is today supported by his wife Frederique and his son Maxence, already engaged in the vineyard as an obvious choice. Together, they defend a simple vision: to produce sincere, precise wines that reflect their terroir and their history. From the work in the vine to bottling, two years can pass. From Pierre & Marie (1922-1948) to Maxence, via Albert & Jeanne, Robert & Chantal and Patrice & Frederique, five generations have passed on the same passion.
The winegrower's vision
Wine depends on the grape, the climate... and the winegrower. Come, let's talk about it over a glass. Patrice Chevalier
