Château Paradis: The Essence of an Exceptional Terroir in Provence

Located in the heart of a preserved natural landscape, Château Paradis spans 80 hectares of vineyards in the northern part of the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation, in the commune of Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade. This estate is renowned for its rich history and the remarkable quality of its wines, originating from a unique terroir.

A Family History and a Sustainable Vision

Since 2011, the Thieblin family, originally from Provence, has been managing the estate. By adding fifty additional hectares, they implemented an ambitious strategy aimed at producing authentic wines that perfectly reflect the personality of their terroir. Their approach prioritizes sustainability, with a strong commitment to reasoned viticulture.

Wines with Character Respecting the Environment

Château Paradis benefits from expert supervision led by Jérémie Peckre, estate director, supported by renowned oenologists Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie. The estate practices reasoned agriculture, limiting treatments to the strict minimum. This approach led to obtaining the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification in 2019, recognizing efforts to promote biodiversity and soil protection.

A Diverse and Quality Production

Although the estate is mainly recognized for its rosé wines, it also pays great attention to the production of red and white wines. The terroir, combined with the Mediterranean climate influenced by the Mistral wind, offers great finesse and beautiful concentration, especially for powerful and elegant reds.

A Terroir Rich in History

The first vines planted on Château Paradis lands date back to around 600 BC, with the arrival of the Phocaeans in Marseille. Later, the Romans developed the "Villa Regina" and installed a grape press on the estate, remnants of which are still visible today. This place has always been linked to viticultural culture.

The Estate’s Evolution in the 20th Century

Château Paradis was officially established in 1980 thanks to Jacques Héon, a wine enthusiast who introduced Sauvignon blanc and Grenache blanc grape varieties. In 2003, the estate was taken over by Philippe and Juliette Deschamps, who renovated the bastide and built a cellar to transform the estate into a grower-producer, marking a decisive turning point.

The Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence Appellation: A Unique Natural Setting

This appellation covers over 4,100 hectares, from the Durance River to the Mediterranean Sea, with landscapes shaped by limestone ranges such as Nerthe and Trévaresse. This exceptional geological setting, combined with a Mediterranean climate enjoying 2,900 hours of sunshine per year, creates ideal conditions for growing vines.

Soil and Climate Favoring Exceptional Wines

The vineyards of Château Paradis grow on clay-limestone, sandy, and rocky soils, sometimes shallow, with outcropping limestone rock. The influence of the Mistral wind and the alpine freshness brought by the Durance River provide a dry and sunny climate, perfect for producing fresh, fruity, and mineral rosé and white wines, as well as structured and elegant reds.

Viticultural Expertise Serving the Terroir

The passionate team at Château Paradis harvests the grapes at full maturity to reveal the richness of the grape varieties. With the guidance of oenologists Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie, the estate crafts wines faithful to their terroir, coming from reasoned viticulture respectful of soil life.
