Château Nestuby: An iconic family estate in the heart of Provence Verte
Between Aix-en-Provence and Nice, at the foot of the village of Cotignac, Château Nestuby spreads its vineyards across 88 hectares in the heart of Provence Verte, just a stone’s throw from the Verdon Regional Natural Park.
Since 1949, the Roubaud family has been cultivating this Côtes de Provence vineyard with a vision true to its roots: producing authentic wines shaped by nature and a long-term approach.
The Nestuby spring, the estate’s natural signature
The estate takes its name from a natural spring, Nestuby, which rises at the heart of the property. This pure water naturally irrigates the soils and brings a precious freshness to the vineyard—rare in Provence.
This presence of water profoundly shapes the identity of the wines: balance, finesse, natural tension. Combined with family know-how passed down through three generations, it creates cuvées with an elegant, sincere personality.
A family story since 1947
The adventure begins in 1947, when Jean Roubaud discovers a 19th-century country house surrounded by vines and fruit trees. By 1949, he bottles his first wines and develops their distribution far beyond Provence, reaching across Europe.
In the 1980s, the estate reached a milestone with more than 600,000 bottles sold, reflecting success built on consistency and quality.
In 1984, Jean-François Roubaud takes over, modernizes production tools, and expands the vineyard. Today, Romain and Damien Roubaud, the third generation, continue the story with renewed energy—blending tradition, innovation, and openness to visitors.
An altitude terroir in the heart of inland Provence
Located in the Haut Pays area of the Côtes de Provence appellation, Château Nestuby benefits from a remarkable microclimate:
- sunny days,
- cool nights,
- a wide diurnal range favorable to aromatic finesse.
Clay-limestone soils, combined with altitude and proximity to the Verdon, allow Provençal grape varieties to ripen slowly and evenly. The result: elegant, precise, expressive wines—far from excessive heat.
Sustainable viticulture, certified HVE level 3
Committed for several years to sustainable farming, the estate is certified HVE level 3 (High Environmental Value).
This certification reflects careful work focused on:
- soil preservation,
- biodiversity,
- responsible water management,
- respect for the vine’s natural cycle.
The estate’s philosophy is simple and demanding: observe, understand, intervene with precision. This care in the vineyard is the foundation for balanced, authentic wines that remain true to their terroir.
