A line of builders and visionaries
It all began in the 18th century, when the shipowner Jean Belso had the Château de Loupiac built, designed to the measure of his ship. Over time, the estate saw remarkable figures such as Reinhold Dezeimeris, a Bordeaux scholar and pioneer of the fight against phylloxera, before being acquired in 1919 by Camille Ducau, ancestor of the current family.
Since then, six generations have succeeded one another at the head of the property, driven by the same passion for the vine. Today, Nicolas Sanfourche continues this family adventure, after joining his parents, Daniel and Marie-Laurence, in 2014.
An ideal terroir for noble rot
Set on a land with a unique microclimate, the estate extends over 30 hectares, of which 26 are dedicated to AOC Loupiac and 4 to AOC Bordeaux. The vineyard is caressed by the morning mists of the Garonne, favourable to the development of Botrytis cinerea, this naturally present fungus that concentrates the sugars and aromas in the berries.
Manual harvest for a meticulous selection
Each bunch is picked by hand, over several successive passes, in order to harvest only the grapes that have reached perfect ripeness. This demanding work guarantees a consistent quality and a pure aromatic expression in each cuvee.
Sweet wines all in finesse
Semillon (90%) forms the framework of the estate's wines, bringing roundness, sweetness and complexity. Sauvignon blanc (10%) adds freshness, liveliness and tension. Together, they sign balanced Loupiac sweet wines, less sugary than others of the same family, with subtle aromas and a fresh, unctuous palate.
