Château Les Hauts de Caillevel: Organic Périgord Wines – A Family Estate in Pomport, Dordogne

At the top of the Pomport plateau in the Dordogne, Château Les Hauts de Caillevel overlooks the hillsides of southern Bergerac. Here, the vines face the forest and the Gardonette river, whose cool valley combined with the terroir and excellent exposure promotes a fine and balanced aromatic expression in the grapes.

We took over the estate in 2018 with a clear conviction: to produce sincere, precise and vibrant organic wines that reflect their terroir without artifice.

This is a family project.
It is demanding.
And it is deeply rooted in nature.

A 17-Hectare Organic Estate in the Heart of Bergerac

The vineyard covers 17 hectares in a single block.

Two geological identities shape our wines:

a flint-rich plateau
south-facing clay-limestone slopes

Flint brings tension and mineral freshness.
Limestone adds structure and aromatic finesse.

We produce wines under:

Bergerac red
Monbazillac (sweet wines)
IGP Périgord white, red, pink and sweet

Organic Farming and Agroforestry

The estate has been certified Organic since 2013.

We go further with:

pollinator-friendly hedgerows
flowered fallow areas
close observation of natural cycles
natural treatments based on copper, sulfur and plant infusions

Our objective is simple: preserve biodiversity while producing perfectly balanced grapes.

In the Cellar: Precision and Minimal Intervention

The work done in the vineyard should never be erased in the cellar.

indigenous yeasts whenever possible
sulfur used sparingly (less than 35 mg/L total SO₂)
vinification adapted to each vintage

Annual production: approximately 60,000 bottles.

We would rather not release a cuvée than offer a wine that does not reflect who we are.
