Château Le Clos des Bonnets - five generations of passion, a vineyard in renaissance
Château Le Clos des Bonnets
A family estate in Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac (Gironde), handed down over five generations since Marc Moreau. 7 ha converting to organic since 2021, reds, whites, rose and cremant.
In Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac, Chateau Le Clos des Bonnets carries the story of a family attached to its land for five generations. The adventure began with Marc Moreau, a great-grandfather of many talents, first a livestock farmer and butcher, then a winegrower.
A visionary, he already pressed his own grapes in his cellar and practised direct sales well ahead of his time, even going to bottle the wine at his customers' homes, from the Paris region to Brittany. This pioneering spirit, this closeness with wine lovers, are still at the heart of the way wine is lived at the estate.

A new era: Clos des Bonnets converting to organic
Since 2021, the estate has crossed a new threshold with the transition to organic farming. This choice is nothing of a passing trend: it is part of a deep approach of respect for the land, agricultural autonomy and consistency with the estate's original values. Working organically here means preserving the soils by letting natural grass cover express itself, reducing inputs to the strict minimum, favouring biocontrol products, encouraging biodiversity and strengthening local partnerships and short circuits. The chateau thus rediscovers the spirit of the previous generations: simple, rigorous and completely sincere work.
A 7-hectare vineyard, between clays, gravels and old vines
Chateau Le Clos des Bonnets extends over about 7 hectares spread across varied terroirs: clay-limestone, silty-siliceous and more gravelly soils. This geological diversity gives birth to expressive, complete and deeply identity-driven wines. Some plots, planted as early as 1948, still produce grapes of exceptional concentration today, living witnesses of time and of the demands of the elders.
Red grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. White grapes: Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadelle. This varied heritage allows the estate to create true aromatic signatures, authentic and elegant.
Wines shaped in the heart of the estate
The cellar of Clos des Bonnets, set in the middle of the plots, is where the wines come to life. There the estate crafts and ages reds in vat or barrel, a fresh, fruity rose, a luminous dry white, an all-softness sweet white and a cremant made by the traditional method. Each vintage is guided by a simple will: to create a sincere, living wine that reflects exactly the year, the soil and the hand of the winegrower.
