Chateau Haut Selve holds a place apart in the Bordeaux vineyard. It is quite simply the only estate created ex nihilo in Bordeaux in the 21st century. A rare project, almost mad at first glance, carried by the Lesgourgues family, builders and winegrowers deeply rooted in the history of the great terroirs of the South-West.
At the end of the 19th century, these renowned lands were ravaged by phylloxera, then left at rest for more than 120 years. Where others would have seen a bygone past, the Lesgourgues family perceived an exceptional opportunity: to bring a forgotten terroir back to life with the knowledge, the tools and the vision of the contemporary world.

A project thought out in every detail
Nothing existed. Everything was imagined, designed and built. From meticulous land-clearing to the planting of the vines, from the design of the landscape to the architecture of the cellar, Chateau Haut Selve is the fruit of a global and coherent reflection.
The aim was clear: to create a vineyard capable of producing great Cabernet Sauvignon wines, perfectly rooted in their soil. The vines were planted with extreme exigency to favour deep rooting, an essential condition for the expression of a durable and balanced terroir. The cellar was designed as a tool in the service of the wine: functional, innovative, durable and resolutely anchored in its time.
Architecture, landscape and wine: a coherent work
To give substance to this ambition, the Lesgourgues family surrounded itself with renowned architects, designers and landscapers. Together, they shaped a place where aesthetics, technique and respect for the environment dialogue naturally.
The result is a contemporary, elegant and timeless estate, where each element, buildings, gates, landscapes, circulations, contributes to the identity of the place. Here, nothing is decorative by chance: everything has a meaning, everything serves the wine.
