Château de Vérone: a medieval heritage at the heart of the Vinsobres terroir

Some estates are born from a project. Others are born from history.
Château de Vérone clearly belongs to the latter.

Built in the 13th century at the foot of the hilltop village of Vinsobres, the château overlooks a rugged, sunlit terroir in the Rhône Valley. As early as 1277, the knight Pierre de Vérone, lord of the land, left his mark here. His coat of arms, passed down through the centuries, remains the emblem of the estate’s wines today.

Here, wine is not a trend. It is continuity.

A family legacy spanning more than a century

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Pelissier family acquired Château de Vérone. Since 1919, four generations of winegrowers have followed one another with the same commitment: preserving the soul of the place while revealing its full viticultural potential.

The viticulture practiced here is traditional and sustainable, guided by observation, practical wisdom and deep respect for the living world. Nothing is forced. The vineyard evolves at its own pace, in harmony with its natural environment.

Vinsobres, a powerful and sun-drenched terroir

The Château de Vérone vineyard flourishes within the Vinsobres appellation, the only Cru of the Côtes du Rhône located entirely in the Drôme.

This terroir stands out for several key factors:

altitude that brings freshness and balance

stony, clay-limestone soils with excellent natural drainage

a pronounced Mediterranean climate, tempered by the mistral wind

These natural conditions give rise to wines that are structured and deep, yet always driven by tension and freshness.

Wines faithful to their origin

The cuvées of Château de Vérone express the character of the southern Rhône Valley with sincerity. The wines are generous and expressive, built around ripe fruit and spice, with elegant tannic structure and a lingering finish.

Whether Vinsobres or Côtes du Rhône, each bottle reflects a carefully balanced interplay between power and freshness, without heaviness or excess.

These are wines of character, crafted for the table, for sharing, and for time.

Château de Vérone: when history gives depth to wine

Choosing a wine from Château de Vérone means tasting more than seven centuries of history, a landscape shaped by both man and nature, and a savoir-faire passed down without interruption for over 100 years.

An estate where the past illuminates the present, and where each vintage writes a new chapter in the story of the Vinsobres terroir.

How do the altitude and climate of the Vinsobres Cru influence the freshness, structure and ageing potential of red wines from the southern Rhône Valley ?
