A centuries-old history, reinvented in 2017
From the Celts to the Romans: the first traces. The lands of Sannes bear Celtic and Roman remains, and sarcophagi unearthed around the Via Domitia. This corner of the Luberon has always drawn people with its natural richness.
1603 - Birth of the estate. Jean de Tisati acquires the land, structures the estate, captures the spring and builds the bastide. His son Melchior gives it its seigneurial face with a chapel, terraces and formal garden.
The Saqui-Sannes - Three centuries of imprint. From the late 17th century, the Saqui-Sannes family embellished and enlarged the estate for nearly 300 years.
From phylloxera to the winegrowing revival. Phylloxera ravaged the vineyard in the 19th century. Madame Faucher-Poilpot revived viticulture in the 1970s. Lord and Lady Hamlyn restored the estate but stopped wine production.
2017 - The Gattaz family rekindles the light. Takeover of the estate, restructuring, plantings, a modern cellar (2020), organic conversion: Sannes is reborn with the ambition of becoming a model of sustainable excellence.
A haven of biodiversity, not a simple wine property
Over 75 hectares: 35 ha of vines, 10 ha of forests, 10 ha of gardens, more than 320 olive trees, 2.5 ha of lavender, a truffle grove, 10 ha of farmland, beehives and a varied fauna. The estate is a complete ecosystem where the vine coexists with a rich, balanced biodiversity.
A committed sustainable approach
Organic conversion from 2017, certification in 2020, zero chemistry, mechanically worked soils, organic amendments: here, biodiversity is the very foundation of the project. This respect for the living is found in the glass, as clean, digestible wines faithful to their origin.
