A family saga deeply rooted in the Bordeaux region
Originally, the estate was on the lands of Saint-Félix-de-Pommiers, at the Bouchereau locality. From the 19th century, under the impetus of Jean Boutet, the property grew and took shape, notably through family alliances that extended the vineyard across several neighbouring communes.
The 20th century marked a pivotal period. After the First World War, Henry Icard refocused the estate and laid the foundations of its modernisation. His sons, Jacques and Pierre, then took over, continuing the operation with the same rigour and a strong local commitment.
Jean-Christophe Icard, between tradition and renewal
Since 1986, Jean-Christophe Icard, son of Pierre, has run the estate with a clear vision: to preserve the family soul while bringing a modern, creative dynamism.
Like his ancestor Jean Boutet, he rebuilds a coherent and ambitious estate around Château de l'Orangerie, formerly named 'Palay'. The current name pays tribute to a singular family tradition: the château's orangery, where the orange trees were sheltered during winter.
A new generation turned towards the future
In 2019, Mathias Icard, son of Jean-Christophe, joined the family adventure after a two-year experience in the United States. He embodies the link between heritage and modernity, bringing a fresh eye to the wines, the communication and the development of the estate's brands.
With him, the Icard vineyards continue their evolution, without ever denying their roots.
