For centuries, this remarkable property bore the name of its most illustrious owner, the Baron de Poitevin. As early as 1881, the quality of its vines was highlighted in the fourth edition of the Feret guide: a magnificent single-block vineyard, with a strong proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, for a wine distinguished by its richness, finesse and bouquet.
At a time when most neighbouring properties practised mixed farming and grew vines from a single grape, this property was already ahead of its time.

A new chapter begins in 1996
After being held successively by several families, the estate found new life in 1996 when Jose Rodrigues-Lalande, an oenologist engineer, and his wife Brigitte, a chartered accountant specialised in wine, fell under the spell of this property. From families with a long winegrowing tradition, they perceived far more than the magnificent 18th-century chartreuse and its park of centuries-old trees: they discovered an exceptional terroir ready to reveal all its potential.
