Château Clamens: The Elegance of Fronton between Tradition and Modernity
A Unique Terroir at the Gates of Toulouse. Located in Fronton, just 30 km north of Toulouse, Château Clamens spans 25 hectares of vineyards set on an exceptional terroir. The clay-sandy “boulbènes” soils, formed from ancient terraces of the Tarn River, combined with the sunny climate of the South-West — over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year — offer ideal conditions for the vine. Since 2012, Stefan Heppelmann, a wine and rugby enthusiast, has breathed new life into this historic estate with a clear vision: to craft elegant, authentic wines deeply rooted in their terroir.
La Négrette: The Signature Grape of Fronton
Château Clamens proudly celebrates Négrette — a native and unique grape variety, emblematic of the AOP Fronton appellation. Born on these fertile lands, Négrette reveals captivating aromas of black fruits, violets, and spices. Representing more than 60% of the vineyard, it is complemented by Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc, creating a harmonious diversity across the cuvées.
A Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible Commitment
Certified High Environmental Value (HVE), Château Clamens is committed to sustainable and eco-friendly viticulture. The vines, planted in the direction of the Autan wind, benefit from natural ventilation that reduces the need for phytosanitary treatments. Yields are deliberately limited (under 45 hl/ha) to ensure concentration and balance. In the cellar, wines are lightly sulfited (around 45 mg/L for reds) and unfiltered, preserving their full authenticity.
Balanced and Refined Wines
Each cuvée embodies the Clamens style: elegance, freshness, and immediate pleasure. Le Petit Clamens (IGP Comté Tolosan): a generous, sun-kissed red with refreshing minerality. Négrette & Co (AOP Fronton): expressive and vibrant, dominated by fruit and finesse. Caractères (AOP Fronton): an ambitious, structured wine aged 12 months in oak barrels. Julie (AOP Fronton): elegant, balanced, and refreshing rosé. Juliette (Vin de France): fruity and smooth rosé, perfect with tuna tataki. Justine (IGP Comté Tolosan): a pure, lively Sauvignon Blanc full of character. Jules (Vin de France): a crisp, convivial red, ideal for sharing with friends.
A Modern Vision of South-Western Wines
Driven by Stefan Heppelmann, Château Clamens combines tradition, innovation, and environmental respect to showcase the true nobility of the Fronton terroir. Each wine is an invitation to discover the spirit of the South-West — generous, authentic, and convivial.
