Château Champion, eight generations of winemakers at the heart of Saint-Émilion
In Saint-Émilion, some estates tell the story of the vineyard better than any book.
Château Champion unquestionably belongs to that category.
Planted on 6.8 hectares of clay-limestone terroirs, the estate has belonged to the Bourrigaud family since the 18th century. A rare loyalty to a place, a land and a craft, passed down from generation to generation with the same high standards.
Since 1994, Pascal Bourrigaud, the 8th generation, has taken over from his father Jean. Alongside his wife Véronique, he now manages several family estates with a clear vision: respecting heritage while producing precise, elegant and sincere wines.
A wine-growing heritage rooted in Bordeaux history
The Bourrigaud family estates bear the names of their historic lieux-dits. They already appeared on Pierre de Belleyme’s map in 1785, later reproduced on the Napoleonic land registry of 1831.
This is no minor detail—it speaks volumes about the age and legitimacy of these terroirs.
In 1999, the family expanded its heritage with the acquisition of Château Haute Terrasse, located in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, within the Castillon–Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, close to the historic site of the Battle of Castillon (1453).
