Château Caze: the elegance of Fronton, carried by a family history since 1776

Chateau Caze

A Fronton estate founded in 1776, between Toulouse and Montauban. 15 hectares of boulbenes and rougets. Negrette (7 ha), Cabernets and Syrah. Cuvees Rose, Larmes de Vigne, Patrimoine and Concerto.

Chateau Caze was born in 1776, under the impetus of Antoine Caze. Since then, each generation has left its mark, preserving a precious heritage and a shared vision: to create authentic wines, faithful to the terroir and to the spirit of Fronton.

The original cellar, dug underground, still bears witness to that era. Its natural coolness and thermal stability offer ideal conditions for ageing. Cement and polyester vats, large casks and oak barrels coexist there, ensuring wines crafted with tradition and precision.

A winegrower who carries on the heritage

Descended from an old Toulouse family, Antoine Caze soon entrusted the running of the estate to his descendants. The baton was passed from hand to hand, up to Martine Rougevin-Baville, the current winegrower.

Since 1991, Martine has passionately carried the family torch, supported by her father Maurice. She embodies the continuity of a know-how, but also the modern outlook the vineyard needed to write a new chapter.

Fronton, a terroir of character

Between Toulouse and Montauban, the Fronton vineyard stretches over the terraces of the Tarn. The vine has been cultivated here since Roman times, but it was in 1975 that the appellation obtained AOC Cotes du Frontonnais status, before becoming simply AOC Fronton in 2005.

Chateau Caze, set at the heart of this area, rests on 15 hectares of arid soils: stony boulbenes and rougets, known for their ability to magnify black grape varieties and to produce elegant, structured and intensely aromatic wines.

The vine is managed in a reasoned way, carefully studied to limit the impact on the environment and favour the optimal ripeness of the grapes. Generous sunshine and warm late seasons yield low volumes, a guarantee of quality.

Negrette, the jewel of the estate

The vineyard is made up of:

7 hectares of Negrette, the emblematic grape and aromatic signature of the estate.

3 hectares of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, for structure, finesse and balance.

3 hectares of Syrah, for colour and delicately spiced notes.

The average age of the vines is 22 years.

Negrette, the emblematic grape of Fronton, is said to have been brought back from Cyprus in the 12th century by the Crusaders. Demanding but generous when respected, it offers incomparable aromatic richness: violet, black fruits, sweet spices. A South-West fragrance like no other.
