Our Philosophy of Terroir-Driven Champagne
Our approach to champagne has always been rooted in independence and crafting wines that express the essence of their terroir. We aim to produce wines with a strong identity, where the connection between soil, grape variety, climate, and winemaker is both evident and profound. Each generation of our family has made specific choices in this pursuit. First, we choose to vinify only our own grapes, allowing us full control over their origin and quality. We cultivate our vines in harmony with their ecosystem, not against it (using no herbicides, practicing soil tilling and cover cropping, applying herbal teas and natural extracts, and maintaining TERRA VITIS and High Environmental Value certifications, among other practices). Patience is another choice we embrace, waiting for our grapes to reach optimal maturity, respecting the character of each vineyard plot. Finally, we adopt a "Burgundian" vinification approach, working plot by plot, grape by grape, to preserve the unique identity of each wine, allowing it to mature thoughtfully in the cellar and in the bottle.
Wines Expressing the Terroir
Our champagnes are crafted to capture the unique character of our terroir. Many of them are from a single vintage, a single grape variety, or even a single location, to best convey the spirit of the terroir. This vision has also influenced our choice of packaging, designed to reflect the soul of our wines. We commissioned original art illustrations, each connected to the characteristics of our champagnes and representing all facets of terroir. These illustrations are interconnected, created by Jérémy Magniez, a talented 33-year-old artist, in a painstaking process of point-by-point, line-by-line detail. Our vineyard spans 14 plots, mostly located in Gyé-sur-Seine and neighboring Neuville-sur-Seine. About 4 kilometers from our main estate, these vines lie amidst trails, forests, and valleys, thriving peacefully in harmony with the moon and seasons, surrounded by a tranquil silence broken only by birds and wildlife.
