Champagne Gruet: Four Centuries of Excellence in the Heart of the Côte des Bar
Established in Buxeuil in 1670, Maison Gruet stands as one of the oldest family legacies in the Côte des Bar. Here, the vine is passed down like a name — with respect, patience, and unwavering passion. The neighbouring lieux-dits “Bas-Gruet” and “Sur-Gruet” testify to this deep-rooted heritage, shaped generation after generation.
In 1975, Claude Gruet released his first cuvées, opening a new era for the family house. Today, alongside his son Pierre-Charles, he continues to champion the identity of this historic estate by crafting Champagnes of sincerity, precision and authentic character.
The Côte des Bar: A Powerful and Radiant Terroir
Stretching between Bar-sur-Aube and Bar-sur-Seine, the Côte des Bar offers an exceptional environment: limestone-clay soils reminiscent of Chablis, sun-kissed slopes, and a cool yet bright climate — an ideal setting for expressing the depth of Pinot Noir, the elegance of Chardonnay, and the fruit-driven charm of Meunier.
Maison Gruet nurtures its vineyards with great care: sustainable viticulture, parcel-based vinification, and rigorous selection of first pressings. Every gesture seeks to preserve the purity and mineral tension that define the house’s signature.
A Craft Blending Tradition and Modernity
Gentle pressings, patient ageing, carefully chosen reserve wines, precise control of fermentation and prise de mousse — ancestral methods remain at the heart of the process. At the same time, Gruet relies on modern tools to refine its blends and enhance the natural expression of each grape variety.
The result: finely chiselled Champagnes, vibrant and perfectly balanced between freshness, depth and elegance.
The Signature Cuvées of Champagne Gruet
Each cuvée reveals a different facet of the family’s expertise. Here are the emblematic wines of the house:
Cuvée des Trois Blancs – Arbane: A rare and distinctive Champagne crafted from three white grape varieties, including Arbane, one of the most confidential grapes in Champagne. Bright, floral and tension-filled — a pure expression of the Côte des Bar.
Sélection Brut: Available in both bottle and half-bottle formats, this cuvée captures the house style with delicate fruit, fine bubbles and a perfect balance of freshness and generosity.
Rosé de Saignée: A vivid and structured rosé crafted through natural maceration of Pinot Noir. Intensely aromatic, silky and bursting with red fruit — a cuvée of true character.
Champagne Gruet: The Natural Elegance of a True Artisan
With its long history, powerful terroir and character-driven cuvées, Maison Gruet stands as one of the true gems of the Côte des Bar. Each bottle reflects a distinctive style: precise, luminous and deeply authentic — a Champagne for those who appreciate singularity and a strong family identity.
