The Château Vessière, between heritage and renewal

Château Vessière is the legacy of seven generations of winemakers. Technically, the estate is located in the southern part of the Rhône Valley appellation, specifically in the beautiful region of Costières de Nîmes. In reality, it benefits from an exceptional terroir and climate at the crossroads of the Rhône Valley, Provence, and Languedoc. Vincent Teulon and his wife Lucie joined the estate and took over from Vincent's father in 2007. They have taken the helm with a strong commitment to being close to nature and using natural products.

What led the estate toward organic and biodynamic farming?

Organic farming and conversion to Demeter

Upon their arrival at the estate, Vincent and Lucie pursued their vision of converting to more natural methods. Initially skeptical, Vincent's father, Philippe, eventually came on board and is now a strong advocate of this type of cultivation. The estate has been certified organic since 2011 and hasn't stopped there. In 2019, Château Vessière began its conversion to Demeter. Demeter is one of the most important and demanding labels in the world of biodynamics.

Beyond certifications, Vincent and Lucie continue to pursue numerous innovative projects aligned with their philosophy. For example, they are experimenting with using plants such as nettle and willow to replace copper and sulfur. They also aim to achieve energy self-sufficiency and even inject the maximum amount of green energy into the grid.

What wines does the estate produce?

A complete range of wines

The Château offers its wines in four main ranges, allowing you to discover their work.

The first is made up of wines named "Mas de Vessière," produced under the IGP Pays d'OC. This is the entry-level range, offering unbeatable value for money.

The flagship of their production is found under the name "Château Vessière," produced under the AOP Costières de Nîmes. These are fresh and aromatic wines with a beautiful finesse. The 2018 Château Vessière red was notably awarded by the Guide Hachette.

Their premium cuvées are produced under a name that honors Vincent's father, "Philippe de Vessière." Finally, the experimental cuvée without added sulfites is found under the name "Ortus."
