In the northwest of France, the Loire vineyard extends from the Massif Central to Nantes over some 70,000 hectares of vines. It is known for the Chinon, Bourgueil and Pouilly-Fumé appellations among others. The Pouilly-sur-Loire AOC is also found there. The appellation area of this AOC extends over some 43 hectares of soils mainly composed of limestone, silica and sand. Chasselas vines, subject to the temperate climate and continental influences of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce white wines, which can be kept for between 1 and 5 years. These wines express a bouquet marked by green apple and dried fruits, which develop on notes of white flowers in the mouth.
