In the south of France, the very sunny vineyard of Languedoc-Roussillon extends over more than 240,000 hectares from Nîmes to Leucate (Aude), making it one of the largest vineyards in the world. It includes the AOC Muscat de Lunel. The appellation area of this AOC extends to the north-east of Montpellier over some 320 hectares of soils composed of sand, clay, sandstone, gneiss, pebbles and silica. Muscat à petits grains vines, subject to the Mediterranean climate of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce natural sweet wines that can be kept for a long time (from 2 to 10 years). These powerful and long-lasting wines express light aromas of fruit and flowers.
