In the south of France, the sun-drenched Languedoc-Roussillon wine region stretches over more than 240,000 hectares from Nîmes to Leucate (Aude), making it one of the largest wine regions in the world. Notably, it is home to the Côtes du Roussillon Villages Caramany AOC. The appellation area for this AOC covers three municipalities in the Pyrénées-Orientales department (Caramany, Cassagnes, and Bélesta) across some 217 hectares of granite and gneiss soils. Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan vines, influenced by the Mediterranean climate of this region, are planted within this appellation and are used to produce red wines meant to be enjoyed young. These wines are known for their freshness, suppleness, and rich aromatic bouquet.
