In east-central France, Burgundy is one of France's oldest wine-growing regions, renowned for its Grand Crus. One of these is theAOC Bourgogne Côte Saint-Jacques. Its appellation area covers just 15 hectares in the northern part of the Burgundy vineyards, in the commune of Joigny. Pinot noir (red and rosé wines), pinot gris (rosé wines) and chardonnay (white wines) are planted on flinty clay soils overlying Turonian chalk.
