Burgundy, in central-eastern France, is one of France's oldest wine-growing regions, famous for its Grand Cru wines. To the south-west of Beaune, in the communes of Puligny and Chassagne, the appellation area of this Grand Cru covers just over 3 hectares of Chardonnay vines planted on clay soils. They produce very rich wines with good ageing potential (from 7 to 15 years and up to 30 years for certain crus).
