Portraits of winemakers
Maison Noépierre, wines with a ‘nose’ and a ‘mouth’!
From the very first drops, the magic happened, and since then, Richard’s passion for this drink that "nourishes men and women and gladdens hearts" has only grown day by day. His encounter with a Best Sommelier of France taught him how to discern and appreciate a good wine. For Richard, a good wine is one "where you remember the label, the moment, and the person with whom you shared it!"
Available directly from the estate on Avenue des Vins.
How did Maison Noépierre come to be?
The Magic of the First Drops
After an initial career as a winemaker in the Vallée des Vaux in Burgundy on the Côte Chalonnaise, Richard Louvenaz decided to put his experience to use in his region by founding Maison Noépierre. He set out to bring together several winemakers to pool their talents and energies under the banner of Maison Noépierre. The philosophy of the house is clear: "bottles with a nose and a mouth to delight the taste buds!" When you open a bottle of wine, you must never forget the sweat of the winemaker who works hard to express and reveal their terroir. However, as Richard often reminds us, despite the labor, the passion for the craft makes it feel less like work and more like fun.
What makes these wines different?
A Low Sulfite Label
Maison Noépierre carefully selects its wines, and all are labeled with a Low Sulfite certification. Richard Louvenaz places special emphasis on reducing sulfite levels in his wines without compromising quality and aging potential. Rather than eliminating sulfites entirely, which are essential for preserving wine, Maison Noépierre strives to minimize their presence in its wines. As the Maison Noépierre motto goes: "the healthier the grape, the less sulfites the wine needs." To this end, Richard Louvenaz established a collective brand called "Low Sulfite," accompanied by a seal intended to reassure consumers about the SO2 content in wines after each bottle is analyzed by an accredited oenology laboratory.
Beyond reducing sulfite levels, Maison Noépierre plans to plant a vineyard with grape varieties resistant to vine diseases while maintaining impeccable taste and quality. Indeed, Richard Louvenaz is committed to advancing viticulture to make it healthier and more environmentally friendly, without losing sight of wine's primary role: to bring pleasure and emotions to those who drink it.
Why buy directly from the winemaker? The wines of Maison Noépierre are shipped straight from the estate: estate price with no middleman, full vintage traceability, and your support for an independent winegrowing family.

Frequently asked questions about Maison Noépierre
Who is Richard Louvenaz, the founder of Maison Noépierre?
Hooked on wine at 18 and trained by a Best Craftsman of France sommelier, he first worked the vines in the Côte Chalonnaise before bringing several growers together under the Noépierre name to pool their know-how.
What does Maison Noépierre's low-sulfite label mean?
It is a collective mark created by Richard Louvenaz. Every bottle is tested by an approved oenology lab, then carries a seal stating its SO2 content. His rule of thumb: the sounder the grapes, the less sulfur the wine needs.
Where do Maison Noépierre wines come from?
The house is rooted in Burgundy, on the Côte Chalonnaise. Its range includes Mercurey appellations, among them a Mercurey 1er cru Clos des Fourneaux, alongside a Mâcon.
What does 'wines with a nose and a mouth' mean?
It captures the house style: expressive bottles, aromatic on the nose and flavourful on the palate, made first for the pleasure of tasting rather than for technical showmanship.
How is Maison Noépierre making its winegrowing more environmentally friendly?
Beyond cutting sulfur, the house plans to plant grape varieties that stand up better to vineyard diseases, so it can reduce treatments without giving up on quality.
