2014 - 75 cl

Loire

The Les Damoiseaux cuvée is a great Loire white wine. Made 100% from the Chenin variety, grapes from a beautiful parcel of old vines are gathered and sorted manually, plot by plot, then pressed in an old-style vertical press before the must finally undergoes maceration in vats prior to the blending of the various parcels. The second fermentation (malolactic) is carried out in part to give good balance between the natural sweetness of the Chenin and the fruitiness. Aged for 6 months, the 2014 vintage displays a wonderful tension, with aromas of quince and acacia. It will serve as a wonderful accompaniment to shellfish or certain cheeses.

CLOSERIE DU BOIS JOLI

49750 Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay - Loire

In the 15th century, a 'closerie' was a little farm surrounded by walls or hedges, including a house and some land. A typical term in western France, by extension this word came to mean a rural farm without plough-oxen, therefore of modest size. For a vineyard, it meant a several hectare plot of vines entrusted to a farmer: "Each Bourgeois has his 'closerie', that is his enclosed vines, nearby". Michelet, Journal,1831, p.101. We therefore chose this word to name our enterprise, which conveys a place of human size and anchored in a tradition respecting the environment. We added the name of the locality: Le Bois Joli (Pretty Woods), where our cellar is situated. Created from scratch, our vineyard began with the 2013 season, on 7.5 hectares. We produce original, artisan wines in the pure Anjou tradition on schist soil. We are therefore part of the local event "La Paulée de l’Anjou Noir".
