DOMAINE COMBE DE LA BELLE
  • Texture

2014 - 75 cl

IGP Pays d'OC

Languedoc-Roussillon

The colour is a shimmering ruby red. Plenty of finesse on the nose, with notes of red berries in alcohol. The palate is marked by a pulpy flesh and blended rannins. You find flavours of kirsch and prunes, with a finish of blackcurrant. A wonderful bottle to be enjoyed with a Gardianne de Taureau (Rancher's Stew), a beef Wellington or veal kidneys in Madeira.

DOMAINE COMBE DE LA BELLE

30800 Saint-Gilles - Languedoc-Roussillon

On the edge of the Carmargue, between Nîmes and Arles, Domaine Combe de la Belle dominates the town of Saint-Gilles, famous for its Abbey, a traditional stop-over place for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. All along the Rhône Valley, stony alluvium was deposited during the Ice Age, which contributed to the formation of the exceptional soil of the vineyards of the region. The terroir is made up of Villafranchian gravel locally known as "Grès" (sandstone), resulting from periods of alternating glaciation and warming in the Quaternary Era. The estate is made up of 4 hectares of vines including Syrah, Grenache,Tempranillo and Aubun. For the Syrah and Grenache, the vines are trellised, while the Tempranillo and Aubun are goblet-pruned. The yields are moderate and the harvests are carried out exclusively by hand.
