CHAMPAGNE GUY CHARBAUT
51160 Mareuil-sur-Ay - Champagne
Wine-growers down three generations, members of the Guy Charbaut family have conserved the family character of the Maison de Champagne, in order to sustain the brand and the quality of their production. In 1930, the grand-father, André, farmed his first vines in Mareuil-sur-Ay, most of which are situated on the well-located slopes, classified 90-100% in the scale of Crus, resulting in a high quality Champagne and excellent presentation. In the village of Mareuil-sur-Ay, they still have his wine presses and cellars. Dug down into 25 metres of chalk, all the cellars, with an overall capacity of three million bottles, measure almost 1.5 kilometres. His son, Guy, continued the work, planting around ten hectares of vines in the 1960s. Thanks to many years experience of making Champagne, he is honoured to present his own label.
