Purple-red colour with beautiful deep glints. The nose is of cherries preserved in alcohol at the attack opening onto notes of dark chocolate and earthy aromas. The attack in the mouth is clean and direct and predominantly of spicy and slightly truffled Syrah. The tannins are powerful but remain very silky. The finish is taut with very mineral sensations of gun-flint and flint. The ageing in barrels is notable with its notes of vanilla that fade rapidly after aeration. The impression is of a wine with the balance and structure that promise great development as a great wine for laying down. This is a wine that will benefit from being decanted to bring out all its potential in accompaniment to meat, dishes in sauce and well-ripened cheeses.
